Zrze monastery, located 34 km north-west of Prilep, at almost 1000 m above the sea level. At the time of St. Kliment of Ohrid, in the second half of the 9th century, monks settled at the Zrze travertine rock. Under the monastery are the monk cells, and their high number indicates the rich life of the monks, who belonged to the highest monastical order. Treskavec Monastery is located only ten kilometers from the city of Prilep, at an altitude of 1280 m. It is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Macedonia, an important monastic and spiritual center. When you are upstairs, among the rocks below the peak you will enjoy the beauty of the surrounding stone structures on the hills and mountains with a beautiful location and a beautiful view. St. Archangel Michael Monastery is located in the oldest settlement in the city of Prilep, called “Varosh”, in the foot of the “Marko’s Towers”. The monastery is among the best religious orthodox centers in the country and it is proclaimed to be “Monument of culture” protected by the law.
St. Nikola Church, which dates from the 13th century, St. Uspenie na Bogorodica in the Monastery of Treskavec with representative paintings from 15, 16 and 19th century, as well as the Monastery with the St. Preobrazenie Church located above the village Zrze. On the hill Markovi Kuli is located one of the five biggest Balkan forts, and it consists of three defensive zones and many towers and gates.

We start the tour with pick up you from your accommodation, continue the trip in way to visit Monastery Zrze – located near the village Zrze, around of Prilep. The numerous remnants of the ancient period-pillars, basilica remains, and other exponents speak of the rich cultural tradition, of this area. Traditionally the monks lived in carved out stone hollows, from the mountain side cliffs. This is believed to date back to the 3rd and 4th century. Today, Zrze monastery complex consists of the church “St. Petar and Pavle”, the inns and several accessory rooms. Under the monastery are the monk cells, and their high number indicates the rich life of the monks, who belonged to the highest monastically order.
From here, we continue with 1 hours drive until Monastery Treskavec – is a monastery situated on the rocky Mount Zlatovrv, 8 km north of Prilep. Built in the 12th century, it currently has only one monk. The monastery possesses a large collection of Byzantine frescoes. The oldest remaining date from the 15th century. Нow is under renovation and have a amazing view of surround.
Last stop for visiting it’s a the monastery complex of St. Michael the Archangel – built as an eagle nest between rocks on the southwest side of Marko’s Towers. It was a single-nave church and today it is stored only a small wall in length east-west, on which there is a fragment of a fresco where is represented a donor composition, very damaged. There are assumptions that this church derives from XII century, it was built on two floors and it was dedicated to St. Nicholas.
After this we continue our trip to Prilep, little introduction of city and going to Winery Sopot – Veles where we will have a wine taste of 4 type of wines and lunch. After that, returning in Skopje.
